Mindanao RBs undergo mobile phone banking accreditation training

The USAID – supported RBAP-MABS program, in partnership with G-Xchange, Inc. (GXI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Globe Telecom,conducted a mobile phone banking accreditation seminarfor Mindanao rural banks at the Grand Men Seng Hotel, Davao City on December 14.

Twenty-two (22) participants from 11 rural banks interested in offering mobile phone banking services attended the seminar. Eight banks were introduced to the initiative: Cooperative Rural Bank of Davao Del Sur, Penbank Central, Rural Bank of Talisayan, Rural Bank of Manolo Fortich, Rural Bank of Cabadbaran, Rural Bank of Lanuza, Partner Rural Bank (Cotabato), Inc. and Rural Bank of Kibawe. Three banks, on the other hand, attended the seminar as a refresher course: Century Bank, Rural Bank of Labason and Rural Bank of Saranggani. The training was intended to prepare rural banks for Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) authorization to offer mobile phone banking services.

RBAP-MABS prepares Luzon rural banks for mobile phone banking accreditation

The USAID-supported RBAP-MABS program conducted a mobile phone banking accreditation seminar at Legend Villas, Mandaluyong City on November 22. Held in partnership with G-Xchange, Inc. (GXI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Globe Telecom, the training was attended by 22 participants from 10 Luzon-based banks, namely: Country Rural Bank of Taguig, Builders Rural Bank, Rural Bank of Pilar (Bataan), Rural Bank of Cabuyao, Rural Bank of Paete, Rural Bank of Taal, Community Bank (RB Alfonso), First Macro Bank, Rural Bank of Agoo, and Sampaguita Savings Bank.

The participants were trained on GXI’s GCASH platform and mobile phone banking fundamentals, including step-by-step procedures and service implementation. Simulations and hands-on-exercises were done to build on the skills of the participants. Each went home with new knowledge, skills and CD manuals to help them in the implementation of Mobile Phone Banking Services using the GCASH platform.

Channel Management Training kicks off

The USAID-supported RBAP-MABS Program and the Microfinance Innovation Center for Resources and Alternatives (MICRA) Philippines held the first part of their series of mobile phone banking channel management trainings on October 13-15 for Luzon banks, and on October 20-22 for Mindanao banks. Eighteen (18) bank officers from five MABS participating banks attended the training, which was to prepare them for the pilot test of the RBAP-MABS Channel Management Project through the GCASH platform.

A component of the RBAP-MABS mobile phone banking initiative, the Channel Management Project aims to develop merchant-partners that can market and provide cash-in/cash-out services to clients in behalf of their respective partner banks. This strategy provides rural banks an opportunity to increase the volume and value of mobile phone banking transactions and cross-sell other bank products and services.

RBAP-MABS and GXI train 7 rural banks on mobile phone banking services via GCASH

RBAP-MABS, together with GXI (G-Xchange, Inc.) conducted the 4th Mobile Phone Banking Services (MPBS) Accreditation and Refresher Training Course this year at the Cebu City Marriott Hotel on August 6. The training was for all interested member rural banks from the Visayas and Mindanao.

Also serving as a refresher course for accredited rural banks, the training featured comprehensive discussion and workshop on mobile phone banking services utilizing the GCASH platform. It covered topics such as MPBS implementation procedures, expansion strategies, key success factors, and lessons learned from early rural bank offerings of MPBS. The workshop also oriented the participants on the various technical and regulatory requirements needed to manage mobile phone banking.

The fourteen participants represented seven banks from Visayas and Mindanao, which included Asian Hills, Inc.; Bangko Carrascal, Inc.; First State Rural Bank; Rural Bank of Maigo, Inc; Rural Bank of Medina, Inc.; Lapu-Lapu Rural Bank, Inc.; and Salug Valley RB, Inc.

MABS conducts MPB accreditation training for Visayas and Mindanao banks

After two successful sessions for Luzon banks in Pampanga and Tagaytay, MABS conducted a mobile phone banking accreditation training for Visayas and Mindanao banks on March 17 at the Sarrosa International Hotel and Residential Suites in Cebu City.

Twenty-two participants from 13 MABS participating banks attended the training.

MABS successfully conducts 2nd Mobile Phone Banking Accreditation Course for Southern Tagalog RBs

MABS successfully conducted the second of this year’s mobile phone banking accreditation trainings on March 3 in Tagaytay, Batangas. Twenty-nine participants from 18 Luzon-based rural banks, five of which are already accredited to offer mobile phone banking services (MPBS) via Globe’s GCASH platform, attended the training.

Through the training, qualified rural banks can obtain accreditation to offer GCASH and apply to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) for authorization to offer MPBS.  MABS provided the participants with a detailed workshop on the MPBS implementation process, mobile phone banking step-by-step procedures, and sets of MPBS manuals. RBAP-MABS Mobile Phone Banking Accreditation for Central Luzon Rural Bankers

The Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines (RBAP) Microenterprise Access to Banking Services (MABS) Program supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) conducted a mobile phone banking accreditation training course at Montevista Villas, Clark Field, Angeles City on February 17.

Held in partnership with G-Xchange, Inc. (GXI), Globe Telecom’s mobile commerce subsidiary, the training was attended by 21 participants from 10 Central Luzon rural banks. Read more »

MABS conducts mobile phone banking training for One Network Bank

Continuing to uphold its mission of helping rural banks improve their microfinance operations, MABS, together with Globe subsidiary G-Xchange Inc., conducted training-workshops for One Network Bank (ONB) officers and staff in Davao and Koronadal in Mindanao on April 28-30.

Over a hundred participants from 32 ONB branches attended the two trainings held at the Mindanao Training and Resource Center in Davao City. In the training held at the EMR Center in Koronadal, South Cotabato, there were more than 30 participants from 19 ONB branches. GXI also conducted trainings in ONB branches in Dipolog and Cagayan De Oro on May 5 and 6. All in all, the trainings benefited 176 officers and staff from all of ONB’s branches. [Read more...]
